Le Makeda is an iconic contemporary music venue in Marseille. Opened in 2019, it offers a rich, eclectic program accessible to a wide range of audiences. The venue can host up to 270 people.

It features a highly diverse musical lineup, ranging from punk to raï, from electronic music to French singers. It therefore requires a high-performance, versatile sound system capable of delivering a high-quality listening experience regardless of the genre performed on stage or the room configuration.

Because Le Makeda is located in the heart of Marseille’s city center, special attention must also be paid to potential noise disturbance.

As part of the renewal of its sound system in 2026, Le Makeda chose Pikip Solar Speakers for their demanding acoustic quality, serving both audience experience and artists, the energy efficiency of their products, as well as their refined design and aesthetics.

This installation is part of a broader effort to reduce energy impact through high-performance, responsible technical solutions, without compromising power or sonic precision. Thanks to our optimised-consumption loudspeakers, the venue has already reduced its energy use and may, in the future, achieve full energy autonomy with the installation of solar panels.

A custom PikiP sound for Le Makeda

To meet constraints related to space, acoustics, and sound consistency, we designed a suspended and optimised installation for Le Makeda, where even the subwoofers are flown.

Concert configuration :

— 2 VCH30 (left & right) in vertical position to provide wide coverage of the balcony (and sound engineers).

The VCH30 is a curvilinear loudspeaker with controlled directivity (90°H × 30°V), modular (1 to 3 units) for coverage adapted to all geometries. It features two high-efficiency 8’’ drivers for maximum performance in a compact format.

— 1 VTL218 flown high and centered to deliver consistent low-frequency impact all the way to the back of the venue. The result: controlled sound pressure with preserved impact.

The VTL218 is a dual 18’’ hybrid-resonator subwoofer, ultra-efficient (37–250 Hz, 102 dBA), with pseudo-omnidirectional directivity suitable for cardioid setups.

Club configuration :

— 4 VCX12 multi-point speakers installed in the four corners of the dance floor, with precise angling and delays for a dynamic, immersive sound.

The VCX12 is a coaxial 12’’ + 2’’ compression loudspeaker, lightweight and durable, ideal for monitoring or fill applications.

This modern and versatile installation has been in place since January 2026.
Join us at an upcoming concert or club night to experience it for yourselves!
